It has been some time since the temporal rifts on New Earth were first activated on the Day of Remembrance. Since then, many have seen visions of a fifth temporal rift hovering over the mysterious Ground Zero, ready to be explored.

This vision has awakened a strong sense of empathy and community among the people, a bond stronger than their allegiance to the various Paths. During the first era, a mass exodus occurred from the central Paths, and the first pioneers discovered that the temporal rift they had seen in their visions actually existed. It holds the foundations for a new civilization, one that can lead all the peoples of New Earth on a new path – the Path of Unity.

Explorers from the Path of Unity stumbled upon a remote mountain valley where the enigmatic flora not only survived the impact but also thrived thanks to the asteroid's toxic Neutronium dust. The flower-like crystal formations synthesize a substance called Flux, which is collected and studied by Harvesters, the valley's mysterious inhabitants. Harvesters are willing to share the secrets behind Flux technology with the different Paths, but they remain silent about the side effects, to which only they are immune.

In the alternate narrative of Fractures of Time, Anachrony's first major expansion, the four original Paths and the newly formed, optimistic Path of Unity have gained access to a powerful new technology called Flux. Flux Cores can be acquired in the Amethynia Valley, the new main zone in the expansion. By using Flux Cores to activate their Fracture device, players can move ("Blink") an already placed Exosuit to a new action space instead of placing a new one, or immediately recover some of their workers or free action markers. This can result in an efficiency of actions never before seen, but just like with temporal rifts, Flux technology is a double-edged sword.

Without a sufficiently advanced Fracture device, overuse can cause temporal glitches; frantic negative effects that can shut down Exosuit bays, temporarily deactivate buildings, or make players more prone to anomalies.

The valley also hides other secrets. The Operators' advanced technology allows players to remove temporal glitches, upgrade their classic Path tech with new quirks, and even recruit Harvesters themselves as a powerful new class of workers, immune to Flux's side effects.
