Bolt Action - Char B1 bis (Plastic Box)

The Char B1 bis is an upgrade of the original Char B1, which was one of the most powerful tanks of its time. With thicker armour and an APX4 turret with a longer (L/32) 47 mm SA 35 cannon, it offered improved capability for engaging armoured vehicles. The combination of the 75 mm howitzer mounted in the hull and the new cannon made the Char B1 bis a formidable opponent on the battlefield.

Historically, following French experiences in the First World War, it was realised that a breakthrough tank would be needed in future conflicts, leading to the design of the heavy Char B1 and later the Char B1 bis. This kit allows you to build either a French or German machine gun tank, or as one of two versions of German flammpanzers.

The Char B1 bis was one of the most effective tanks against German Panzers during the 1940 Battle of France. Despite this, its slow speed and high fuel consumption made it ill-suited for the more mobile style of warfare prevalent at the time.

Upon the Fall of France, the victorious German forces captured 161 Char B1 bis tanks and repurposed them under the name Panzerkampfwagen B-2 740 (f). Several of these tanks were also converted into flamethrowing tanks, demonstrating the versatility and potential of the Char B1 bis.
