Colossus, whose real name is Piotr Rasputin, was the younger brother of Russia's greatest hero, Mikhail. During Apocalypse's attack on Moscow, Mikhail was captured and brainwashed to become one of Apocalypse's horsemen. Colossus became the leader of the super-soldiers and stood against his brother, who destroyed all other superheroes in Russia except for him. In his first assignment as a member of the X-Men, Colossus fought Sabretooth to save the life of the young mutant Kitty Pryde. Piotr fell for Kitty, and they eventually married, further deepening the story of his character.
