Dreams and Machines is a brand-new RPG setting where people come together to rebuild their world after a catastrophic war. In this world of mystery and adventure, where slumbering machines dot the landscape, humans build their lives anew in the ruins of a paradise. The War with the Machines took place 200 years ago, but many threats from that era remain, along with others, such as raiding parties of Thralls from deep ruins, who have emerged in the intervening years. The machines are dormant, but they can sometimes awaken, causing death and destruction before they are stopped. Abominable, mutated creatures invade the landscape, vile by-products of the war. Ghostly nanograms lurk in the ruins, promising knowledge or luring the unwary to their doom.

Despite all this, humanity is rebuilding. People live full, happy lives despite the threats that plague them. Cooperation and mutual aid are a given, with people coming together to build something new amidst the ruins of the past.
