The fearless and tenacious brown-haired news reporter ventures into the most dangerous areas of New York City. She is always prepared to take on challenges to get the most exclusive news and to present the truth to the public. As a news anchor for Channel 6 News, she infiltrates the sewers wearing her characteristic yellow jumpsuit and white boots, where she finds clues and describes every step with her microphone, as well as recording images with her portable camera at her feet.

April O’Neil is not just a reporter; she is a brave and passionate woman who is always ready to face any mission. Whether it means standing up to her boss Burne Thompson or competing with her rival Vernon Fenwick, she spares no effort to achieve her goals. During an investigation into the theft of technological equipment, she was attacked by a gang. In an attempt to escape, she found herself in a dead end, where she was rescued by the four Ninja Turtle brothers. They took her to their hideout in the city's sewers and told her about their origins.

This strong bond of friendship and trust with the Turtles made April the primary link between the two worlds: the Turtles and society. She is always ready to help, using a two-way audio and video communication system called Turtlecom to stay in touch with them. Thanks to her partnership with the Turtles, April also began a romantic relationship with the vigilante Casey Jones, an ally of the ninja turtles.
